As you might know de portables changed labels from (k-ra-a-k)3 to Brussels’ Still Records. Now that all contracts have been signed and destroyed, we can finally disclose some of the details regarding our leave of (k-ra-ak)3. Simply put: (k-r-aa-k)3 did not like the new album, “too persian” it sounded, too many neo-Ahmadinijad influences and in the light of the current political climate, our “friends” at (k-ra-a-k)2 did not dare to go forward.

We - de portables - said no to this political-correctness and sought a label who had the guts to release what we would call the first ever world-music-postrock record. Currently Hans is in Iran to mix off the album which will feature future hitsongs such as “Dave Driesmans is a horny arsehole” (see the video) and “Salahuddin Al-Ayyub is our hero, although he smells like nutella cho-co“. In a record store in Teheran and Damascus soon!

Abba the Hutt is the result of the fruitful collaboration between the three remaining members of Abba, the seminal seventies pop combo, and Jabba The Hutt, a crime lord from the desert planet of Tatooine. The album includes an irresistible mash up of seventies Swedish pop music and Tatooinish sex funk. While driving his truck with 40 tons worth of cow intestine, longtime portables fan Ryan Engle was listening to the new portables pre-release mp3 album (available only to portables’ lonely fan club members!) he got so agitated by the 14 minute drone intro that he started fiddling with his mp3 player to get to the next track. Fiddling with the bad design of the Apple iPod, Ryan got so distracted he spilled 40 tons of cow intestines on the highway.
