Stop the presses! It just has been confirmed that on 20th July 2008 de portables will play a unique show with belfry dude Frank Deleu in Bruges in support of de kreuners! Sure it undermines the last remnants of our indierock credibility that we built up the last ten years, but who - but Joelle -  can say no to a support act with Belgian’s finest no-wave pop combo for an audience of 9000 who never heard about de portables? So mark your agendas because the 20th of July you’ll be at “De Brugse Tripel Dagen“ at the market place in Bruges for de portables are going to take over! If you have any questions to Ben instanboel Crabbé or Walter Big Arse But Small Brains then post them in the comments and we’ll see what we can do! Psyched!!

Meet our new portable member: experienced tour-bus driver Carmen. Carmen will make sure that the beloved portables arrive on time at shows and come home safely in one part. A formidable task! This leaves room for the other portables to have one Duvel more before the show, which, according to Wio, is essential to give away a great show. So thank you Carmen, welcome to the family and hopefully you won’t hit that many bumpers next time.

Een van de meest eclectische groepen van ons land, De Portables, keren zondag terug naar hun roots in Brugge, waar ze het podium van de Cactus Club delen met The Go Find. De Belgische undergroundscene koestert hen al langer, maar met hun nieuwe album ‘Topless is more’ klinken ze poppier als nooit tevoren en bestaat de kans dat ze een nieuw publiek veroveren. Voor de release ervan stapten ze over naar een ander label.

Waarom jongens?

De Portables: Dat is eigenlijk een lang verhaal, maar kort gezegd komt het hierop neer: onze plaat was bijna klaar en toen we ze aan de mensen van K-RAA-K lieten beluisteren, konden die er zich niet helemaal in terugvinden. Ze vonden het te eclectisch en te poppy, terwijl zij op hun label toch met andere dingen bezig zijn. We zijn toen een ander label gaan zoeken en al vrij snel kwam Still op de proppen. Zij waren al lang fan en hebben ons zelf gecontacteerd. We zijn eigenlijk vrijwel de enige Vlaamse groep op dat overwegend Waalse label.
